(More customer reviews)I received this product and one of the seams was ripped out.Contacted the seller and got great support, they sent out a replacement carrier immediately.Received the second one and after the first big storm I went through, opened up the carrier to find it filled with water.Drained it and found holes in the seams where the stitches were located on the seams.If they simply taped the seams this would not be a problem.Don't recommend this item if you are looking for something waterproof.

(More customer reviews)We used two of these bags on a recent trip. Strapped them to the top of our MDX, went over 400 miles in the rain and they kept the water out. I agree with the other review, the cover drawstring should be more durable and easier to draw tight. Did not experience any of the "peeling" or "flaking" of the coating on the inside of the bag or the cover that some of the reviews I have read on other sites mention. Overall a very good product. Hard to beat the convenience of wheeling them around, they held alot, and you pack directly into them. The top flap of the bag has a built in clear plastic pocket that closes. Worked very well for holding cosmetics, shampoo, and pretty much everything else that would be in a man's shaving bag or woman's cosmetic bag. Two bags held all the clothing and linens for a family of 6 for 10 days in the cold with some room to spare. We definitely would recommend them. I would also recommend buying the bags separately as the two bag set only comes with one big cover instead of the two individual covers.

Rola 59501 Roof Top Cargo Basket Review

(More customer reviews)I bought a pair of Rola roof racks for our Hyundai Elantra (which didn't fit well at all) and ordered this roof rack thinking it would fit to their own racks. Boy was I wrong. This is the biggest engineering fail I've ever seen. The u-brackets included aren't long enough to fit the mounting brackets they include *when used with their own roof rack*!I had to go to Lowe's to buy washer and nuts to replace the wing nuts they included that would not grab the threads (the supplied wing nuts, by the way, had they fit, would have stuck up about 1/2" below the bottom of the rack, resulting in four "posts" I would have had to pack around) . On top of that, once I finally got the nuts on (I had MYABE 1/4" of thread for them to "grab"), tightening the brackets down only served to deform the bottom of the roof rack, instead of settling nicely into place.

However, after some creative engineering to get it to stay on tightly, I was able to load it up with a fair amount of gear and bungee it down. It seemed reasonably sturdy and held up well to a 2,000 mile trip through some rain and wet snow.Overall, I liked the rack but was supremely frustrated by the poor execution of the mounting system.

Lund 601015 Aero Bag Waterproof Roof Top Carrier Review

(More customer reviews)First of all '11 cubic feet' means a little for me so if you were wondering about the dimesions of this bag, look no further (because nor even in lund's web site you could find this valuable information). The dimensions labeled in the box are 44"x36"x16" (l,w,h). So far I stuffed it with six letter size stackable white cardboard boxes like those you find at Office Depot (15.5"x12.5"x11") intended for your backlog (by Willamette), it's not easy at first glance but, believe it or not, there's enough room for them. Te curb of the aerodinamic shape ends some 18" from the front side to the back to reach the 16" claimed. For me it seems like a parabolic shape because the height continues to increase slightly up to around 18" in the backside. With my 6 backlog boxes in place there's still some 26"x36"x5" of room above them.

Material seems to be strong, the only think I don't like is the zipper wich seems to be regular one not one intended to support strong wind force. Well, in two weeks I'll tell you what happened with this bag during my 600 mile trip.

So far, so good.

Valley 90350 Roof Basket Cargo Carrier Review

(More customer reviews)I actually looked into building my own basket style cargo rack but really you can hardly buy the materials for the cost of this Valley Cargo Carrier. It's light weight yet very strong, great coating on it as well.

Extremely easier to put together, litterally takes just a few minutes.

The only issue is if your cross bars aren't very far apart. I have an old Jeep with a hardtop and the roof rack mounts are pretty close together. The valley basket carrier comes with four mounts to secure it to your cross bars. The problem I had is that I could only get the front ones on, on the rear mounts I couldn't get it to line up, basically I needed my bars to be another 6 or so inches farther apart.

But, this was easily fixable, I just went to the hardware store and for about 4 bucks got a few u-bolts and secured the back of the cargo carrier on with those. And the included mounts are built very well and even have quick release bots on them.

Overall I'm very happy and would still purchase again even with that one issue.

We were excited about the bag, thinking it would meet our needs, and drove from Chattanooga, TN to Dallas, TX without any problems.However, when we emptied the bag, zipped it up, and left it on the roof overnight - the storms came.The next morning, with a light rain continuing, I left the hotel to load the bag and found at least 2 inches of standing rain filling the bottom!!My "waterproof carrier - with special waterproof zipper flap cover" even thought it was zipped and closed!!!We poured the water out, dried the bag, and put non-clothing items inside for the rest of the trip (from Dallas, Tx to OKC, Oklahoma).Within minutes, it got worse.The straps that came with the carrier worked like sponges, soaking up the water and pouring it through the doors, leaving watermarks on the ceiling and showering drops onto everyone in the car.The straps were too large to fit through the slim holes on my factory roof rails, but an emergency stop to Wal-mart and a purchase of some nylon rope at least got the soaking straps out of our car.When we got to OKC, we took the stupid thing off the roof, folded it up, and put it in the trunk.After selling a few other items, we did without the Roofbag for the remainder of our 9-day road trip.My opinion?If you get the Roofbag, make sure it will strap to existing roof rails, and don't put anything inside you want to keep dry!

The kicker?Roofbag.com's warranty regarding their "waterproof carrier" - (From Roofbag.com) - "Since we have no control over how a user installs the carrier, and since the Cross-Country carrier only leaks if installed incorrectly, water leakage is not covered by the warranty, unless the bag has a noticeable manufacturing defect that affects its waterproofness."Classic.

Lund 601006 Cargo Carrier Heavy Duty Storage Bag Review

(More customer reviews)The quality of this bag is excellent; however, Amazon's PHOTOGRAPH shows a roof-top storage bag attached to the roof rack, while this larger bag was designed to be oriented from side-to-side on a REAR RACK THAT PROJECTS FROM THE TRAILER HITCH.
To use it on our roof rack I had to cut a plywood platform for it to sit on, and run additional straps over the top. Since one orients things lengthwise on top of a car, the front end of the bag does not look like the one in the photograph---the front end actually has a wind-catching flap across it! Our 2,800-mile trip included a lot of stops to apply more and more bungie cords (to stop the flapping). At least the dogs enjoyed the many stops. For the trip back we've installed a luggage-securing bungie NET over it. The BAG itself is EXCELLENT!

BUT... it ripped the first day I used it (had a stroller in it, and the seam ripped straight through) and it is definitely not 'weather-proof', it rained for only a few minutes on our trip and the inside items were wet. Highland 10392 Black KarPak Rainproof Car Top Carrier Review

(More customer reviews)We purchased this product on 4/3/07 & received it on 4/7/07. The first thing I noticed in the packing on 4/7/07 were the terms that "Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase", though the box indicated Guaranteed Waterproof. Since we were leaving for Yellowstone the end of April and planned to use the carrier, I first packed a few items and tested it on our vehicle before we left. It seemed to do well in the rain with limited interstate use. However, when we left and drove 70mph on the interstates, the pack flopped up & down on our vehicle, and one strap broke loose on the interstate. The teeth in the strap buckles would not secure for very long and four straps at four hand sewn points would not secure the pack. This was so after the straps were knotted. Two states later I bought two bungy cords that secured the pack. Also after a downpour in Wyoming, the pack also leaked inside. When we returned on 5/7/07, the 30 days had expired. Hence, I consider this pack a waste of money.

(More customer reviews)We drive a Honda Civic and have a Yakima roof rack with two bike trays, and were looking for a smaller "soft side" carrier to fit into this space.This cargo carrier fit nicely inside this space and appears easily adaptable to spaces that are not exactly 34" by 34".The carrier material is sturdy and coated on the inside with a PVC coating.The zipper is a double pull zipper, which is nice because it can be adjusted to open from one side for easy access to the contents inside.The straps are long - almost too long, in fact, so we may end up cutting off the excess strap material.The carrier is advertised as water resistant and not waterproof, and so our plan is to primarily use the carrier for things that we don't mind getting wet, and then pack other items inside a garbage bag first before putting them inside the carrier.We used the carrier for the first time this past weekend on a camping trip and it worked great!We put our folding chairs inside, along with some Thermarest pads and pillows.We drove at speeds up to 70 mph and did not notice any more noise than what we usually hear with the roof rack.We did manage to drive through a TREMENDOUS rainstorm lasting 10-15 minutes.Some of the contents inside the carrier did get a bit damp, but the pillows that were stored in a garbage bag were completely dry.Overall, we are very happy with this product and would highly recommend it!!
