(More customer reviews)Prior to purchase the company's Customer Service agent told me the security of the bike would be maintained since the opening mechanism was located in the center of the bar and would be covered bythe locking mechanism of the carrier itself.However this is NOT the case as the opening mechanisms are both exposed once the bikes are loaded and locked into place.After I received the item and called them again it I was told by customer service they knew nothing re the item as they did not manufacture it themselves and i needed to talk to a tech.Once I heard fromthe tech, about a day later he confirmed that it cannot be secured.It works but is not secure, so if you intend to leave the bike on the rack w/o you being present the bike will need to be secured by other means.
